the car won...They ALWAYS win

When Mom came to take me to target to get a new radio yesterday, we decided to get lunch on the way there. We tried to go to windy city grill, a little place we found a while back that had the best "chicago" dog I've ever had.Mom was a fan of their hamburger, so we were both good to go there. unfortunately they've gone under so we got back out on highway 5 and looked for somewhere else. I spotted a buffet called "johnboys" and thought that looked promising, so we stopped there. on the way from our parking spot to the door I passed behind a red ford pick-up. my left hip and hamstring are very stiff right now, so i was moving quite slowly when the truck started backing up. mom started waving her arms and yelling, but the guy didn't see her and I got knocked to the ground! As I was falling the thought flashed through my head that "this is gonna suck. I landed on my left arm/shoulder, and bumped my head on the pavement. some men came out of the restaurant and tried to help me get up into a chair,. the gentleman who was driving the truck talked to me, while a lady who was there called 911 and mom called bubba at home (he's off today). i think the old guy must be a minister somewhere because he prayed over me until the fire men* showed up. about the time they got me up and sitting in the chair, bubba showed up and we went to lunch. I'm none the worse, no injury except some "road rash" on my elbow and a bruised ego. going to go take a nap until it's time for supper. I've got half a subway foot long bmt sub in the fridge from yesterday..

* I LOVE firemen. they willingly run into danger ( a burning building) when most of us would want to get away as fast as possible. Kind of like Marines charging straight ahead into a hail of bullets on the battlefield If they get it right, you'll see what I mean when the movie about the Marines in Fallujah comes out, or you could read the book "my men are my heroes" by Brad Kasal.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_Kasal

. every time I've been taken to the hospital since the stroke, it's been by fire department teams. for x-mas I'm going to make a bunch of quart jars of my homemade, "hot veggies" mix for the guys at Cobb county fire station number 1, who took me to north fulton the morning of the stroke. I don't know the dudes name, but I remember the face and would recognize the guy who gave me the stroke assessment exam.
